highboy emblems

anybody know of any emblems that say highboy on them? if not ithink that i could use a properly sized 1/4 thick chunk of aluminum and carefully using the dremel, carve out highboy, and paint the inside of the letters black, then giving it a good polish. although i have no clue how i would attach them to the body below the f250 emblems (hopefully the fenders i get actually have the f250 emblems)

The best way would be to find somebody with a CNC mill to make them. About an hour and half designing on CAD and 20 Min. milling. Use two sided tape to attach.

There is no emblem thats say Highboy from Ford. Highboy is not a Ford name, it is a nickname the truck recieved from when the trucks came out.

"F-250" IS the highboy emblem. Fordpickup460 hit it right on. Ford never called those trucks highboys.

i was kinda hopin that ford just caught onto the name, or somebody made some for something else...

about what would the cnc milling cost? i really dont want to spend a ton, or have to go to jr motorsports or something. i know that they have one that they use to make jr dragster parts, but the are also quite pricey

BTW ivan: i have no f250 emblems on my highboy , and while i hope to be able to find a good set in my favorite junkyard (speaking of which, how do they come off?) i just think that having custom "highboy" emblems would help make it one-of-a-kind without becoming too gaudy

The emblem on my truck (78) sits up higher than the older models. I believe on the older trucks it will be on the fender itself whereas mine is above the fender. I have removed them using a flat screwdriver to work them loose.

I would think CNC machining of something like that would get to be quite spendy. If you really want one you may be better to see about getting an engraver to make something for you. Check trophy shops. If they can't do it the way you want they'll know who to suggest in your area.

I know it would be time consuming... but what about making a mold and dumping lead or plastic into it, then painting the result?

Although, if you have a steady hand and a lot of patience, you could do it with a dremel (I've seen harder things done). It would just be very very difficult to get both of them the same...

unfortuanatly, i really dont have a steady hand (which is why you seldom see pics from me) but i have been racking my brain of how i could set something up to move my dremel back and forth. i was thinking about a miniture drill press we have that is made to stick a handheld drill into, rigging it to hold my dremel at a certain hight and running the aluminum through it by hand (i would have to get stencils to mark where i wanted to cut). and i wouldn't have to get both perfectly the same, due to each being on opposite sides of the truck. the mold would be the best way to get them to look the best, but i also have nothing to do the molds with, I also lack the knowlege.

Ivan: so they just work out like those little door panel clips?
