The 1 piece rear shaft eliminates the carrier bearing vibration that some experience with lifted trucks without the need for trial and error shimming which doesn't seem to work perfectly on all trucks.
Price I got no idea. I got a 2 piece myself (stock, shimmed).
One piece drivelines can eliminate drive line shudder on takeoff.
I'm not sure if all shops are the same but I know some driveline shops will only make a one piece up to a certain length......
I want to say that price is around $450 depending on what shop you buy it from, but I could be way off.
If I get a new driveline I'll get a two piece.............
It has mostly to do with the length. If you lift the truck, then height/driveline angle comes into play. My crew cab long bed 4x4 has a 2 piece. My reg cab long bed 4x4 had a one piece, as does the Bronco. My reg cab long bed 2wd had a 2 piece. Not having the transfer case means a longer shaft.
drive terrain unlimited in San Antonio TX, made mine for right at $450, with CV up top.. much more heavy duty than stock and long travel slip yoke... eliminates the intial t/o shudder that is unavoidable with the Crewcab shortbed configuration.

what you said jetjcock has got me thinking. My truck, an extended cab, sb does shudder also on take off, especially when i am towing a heavy load. I figured it was the extreme amount of torque getting a heavy load going. have you been having any problems? 450 doesnt seem like much to me.

if you have the extended cab with Longbed, i think you got the same tranny to rear end measurement, with the same 2 piecer.. i could be wrong
i have a buddy who has a crewcab shortbed and on take off he has this shudder/vibration. At first I thought it was some axle wrap from the blocks... but now I am not so sure....
It is not a HARD vibration, but you can certainly feel it in your seat and thru the steering wheel.
thats it.. if its from 0-10.. it will happen from every t/o... axle wrap (hard enough to feel) would only happen from really floorin it and would be accompanied by/causes wheel hop
so for a crew cab shortbed config what is the best option for ridding the truck of this shudder? A one piece driveshaft? Or can you shim the carrier bearing to just the right angle?
What was the talk on here a while back about driveshafts that are too long build up heat in them and are destroyed or something??? Or is that for a crewcab longbed type?
You can try shimming the carrier bearing........works fairly well for some and others don't seem to have much luck.
If I get an aftermarket rear driveline for my CC SWB it will be the two piece CV from H.A.D.:
