How to get the code
I just retrieved mine, on passengers side fold rear seat forward and pull the upper trim out some ( where the seatbelt retracts to) pull the lower trim out some, you will see a black box, get a mirror and insert in front of box and shine a flash light, you will see the five digit code.. my explorer was manufactured 5-2002

My "Ford Service Station" wouldn't *give* you anything, not even the time of day, much less something they could bill you out the whazoo for!
Tip: Dress down before you go in to Bill Utter Ford or you'll pay double!

OK, thanks to all!
On my '98 Exploder, I just went out and opened the jack compartment, took the jack and pryed a little extra room between the module and the trim panel, and could read five "big" numbers. I thought the last number was either a "0" or and "8," and it turned out to be the latter.
