AIS Air Filter System

I have a 02/f-250/7.3/4x4 & seeking info on the new AIS system compared to the Tymar system. I only have 16K miles and concerned with being under factory warranty, should I go with the AIS?

Talking to the dealership they wanted I believe $250 or so for the system and $95 for the filter replacement. Sounds kind of high to me.

Info needed Thanks

I'd recommend the AIS because of your warranty. That's why I got the AIS. I'm very happy with it. It flows just about the same as the Tymar and filters just as well. Go to fordpartsnetwork.com, that's where I got mine. Much cheaper than the dealership. I think I paid $189. You can see a picture of it in my gallery if you don't know what it looks like.

AIS for 1997?

Do you know if the ais is available for earlier models like the 1997? I looked at the web site but could not find any place that stated what models the system fit. Thanks.

I think that they do but I'm not certain. I think that if I had a truck with an expired warranty I would have went with the Tymar.

taxfree,
I'm pretty sure the AIS is available for the pre 99 PSD's but I believe you need purchase a diferent intake snorkel for the AIS though.

The standard AIS system is a drop intake system for 99-03's.

I asked the question about the older models and I was told there was not one to fit them. Hopefully they will get one for them. My dad would like to have one. I believe on one of the 99's you have to get the extra piece of pipe for the intake. I have the Ford AIS and I like it very well. There is also a man on e-bay you can buy the replacement elements for around $60.00.

That would be the shiznit! No way, at best on the highway running empty I've gotten 20. The AIS won't significantly increase your MPG, but will help just a little bit. You'll flow more air. That will help the turbo spool slightly faster.

I don't think the AIS is available for your truck. Check into the Tymar.
