E4OD and 4R100...what are the physical Differences?
How can you tell the difference? I know that they might have ran both in the same year (1999 or 2000...cant remember). I am just tired at guessing! Thanks!
4r100 has a speed sensor just behind the bell housing on the drivers side, the e4od was drop in 1998, also the 4r100 has a line connecting the two cooler lines together
what about bolt patterns on the bell housing? are they the same? cause it sure would be nice to be able to slap a 4R100 tranny behind my '96 PSD! does anyone know if it is possible to do a tranny swap from the e40d to the 4r100 in a '96 packin a hell of a 7.3
The dual cooler line is some sort of by pass...i am not sure if its baised on pressure or Temp. Its just a bypass line inbetween the two ports. Then the regular lines plug up to the ports....i think its for keeping the trans at a certian temp....and aid in warming up. I have seen it in Nissian....(2 years as a tech)
your right the cooler lines will bypass if the cooler becomes clouged or restricted, the bolt patterns are the same but don't think you will beable to convert it over, the soliniod [something like that] is differnt the speed sensor and there are changes in the valve bodys
