Cars eat the 87 octane, makes them no difference that I can tell. The corner store where I usually fill up has 89 octane, 10% ethanol that is listed10-12 cents higher but with the Dillon's card (grocery store) they drop the price to same or maybe a couple cents more than the 87, and the truck runs noticeably better on it, so it gets the "good" stuff.
I run Sunoco Ultra 93 in my bronco. We have 10 cent off Thursdays. It actually equals about 90 octane prices on those days. Needless to say, I adjust my driving habits to make it to Thursday.
Ahh, I run the mid-grade in my truck (husband says running the cheap stuff with make it ping, so I'm humoring him.....heheheheh). But I WEAR 110. Hahahaha. Okay, so thats actually a joke because of everyone making fun of me at a race. I was holding the funnel (we were pit crew for an off-road race in Wendover, NV. My husband was actually racing in that one.) and the guy pouring the fuel got a little carried away and the stuff ended up running down my arm. They laughed at me because I just stood there and let it run down my arm. I'm still not sure what else I was SUPPOSED to do. Either way I think I would get made fun of......I guess I should have dropped the funnel and ran screaming about the fuel he got on me. Hehehehhe.
I run 93 in my 67 f100 460 speed truck. I fill it up monday and by friday run it empty at the race track where I fill it up with VP 104 to use over the weekend (I have a friend that works at the track so I get it cheap). Oh yah and my truck gets 6-8 mpg.
30 weight in the gas tank 87 octane in the crankcase. I figure if its all gonna trade places anyway...I might as well just put it there from the start.
Kidding....I love my truck. Run regular 87 octane day to day...but when I go wheelin, I use 89 to keep any low rpm'ish torque pinging down that I sometimes get. Something like that anyway.
I run plain 87.......If you have a chipped vehicle then higher octane makes a difference, but if your vehicle is tuned to run at optimum efficiency with 87 then your wasting your money buying the higher octane gas. My trucks get better power and fuel mileage with 87, because thats how they are tuned from the factory.
