I have recently picked up a 1976 F150, regular cab, 460 auto 2wd, long bed. I was wondering- for towing purposes- a pretty close figure on the weight of this truck. It currently resides near Jacksonville, North Carolina and I'm planning on bringing her home this summer to Columbus, Ohio(just under 700 miles). The reason I ask is because the hitch on my 97 F350 is rated at 6000gtw, and the trailer I tow with has to be at least 1000 lbs alone, and I will be towing through the wonderful Mountains of West Virginia. The trailer itself is rated at 12000 gvw and I frequently haul a Back Hoe with it(also a different truck w/10000 lb hitch), so I'm not terribly worried about it.

S,
I have a 76 F150 302/C4 that weighed in with a full tank of gas and an empty bed at 3820 lbs. I imagine the 460/C6 would add about 400 lbs. so guess at 4250 lbs., at least.
Good luck,
KingFisher
My '76 highboy came in at 5,500 lbs. at the scale at the local dump that also included a full tank of gas and 200 lbs. for myself. I have no idea if that scale is accurate or not? I would guess your truck is somewhere around around 4,800 lbs. maybe?
