Aftermarket Intercooler

Does anyone make an aftermarket intercooler besides Banks for our trucks? If not is anyone running the Banks?

I thought you could get the six gun bundle for just above $2000. I wonder why that piece of it is so much.

Well it is good to know that there are some humans that work there.
It is a bit steep, I wonder what the actual numbers are on effecianey.

It is a bit steep; I wonder what the actual numbers are on efficiency of the cooler.
When they first talked of this it was to be included in the bundle, must have changed.

I was quoted 2200 for the bundle from a dealer installer + installation if I wanted them to install it all. I bought the gauge pack and six gun by itself and exhaust. Will have about 1500 into the setup when it is done. Banks told me I did not need the intercooler where I live and what I am using it for. Also, the stock turbo on the 04 I was told by several diesel mechanics is just fine and not worth replacing until or if it fails.

OK not about you, why in the heck did Banks say geographical location matters, if you need the intercooler.

If it is hot (er) yes it would help however, it should and could help across any and all temperatures.

I don't know why they said that. I usually only pull in the mountains and when the trailer is heaviest it is in the winter with all of our gear and snowmobiles. The hottest it really gets here is about 85 in the summer and that happens maybe 2 weeks out of the year and we pull in the summer and stay where we are unlike in the winter. I believe our average yearly temp here is 55. My understanding from Banks is it is not worth the money where I live.

Talked to Banks about Intercooler and my driving habits. First of all it will not be available for one month or so and if you want to order it today they are asking for 10% down to be one of the first(which I know may not be true) to have it. Barry stated that the intercooler is used for people who tow on level 5 or 6 on the six gun and pull heavy loads to help reduces EGT's by 10%. The Banks six gun module will go into protection mode or stock mode when pulling under heavy loads if anything is sensed that may cause damage. This includes EGT temps, melted wiresetc. The intercooler is 20% bigger than stock so this can be of great help as we all know. As for my personal use, it obviously would help but is not necessary. Since I pull our 9000lb car/snowmobile trailer, plus gear and snowmobiles most of the time in the winter and our ambient temperature here is low anyway it is probably not necessary to spend the money on it. He did state that if you run the six gun consistantly in the 4,5 and 6 setting that it is a good idea to get this product or you will run hot. It also gives you a tested 156hp gain and 275 rear wheel torque increase when put on as a bundle for those that are interested. The cost for the chip is $848, intercooler $1129, exhaust 6 something(I already bought mine for less), speed loader $90, gauge pack, $235. Don't quote me on exact costs but these are close enough. Hope this helps

Jason
