my book on turbos tells us that for each degree the intake temp is dropped, a corresponding 1 degree drop is seen in the EGT, given no other variable is changed.
also a jet of water sprayed externally on the i/c is supposed to work very well.

That is impressive it is one for one, now how much increase in HP/TQ with an all-stock motor.
Hmm... let me calculmaniate...
156 advertised Hp for $2900 at banks... or
100 verified RWHP for less than $400 at motorhaven for the Predator...
HMMM.... if I do MORE calculmaniate (sic)
2900/156 = $18.59 / HP
375 /100 = $3.75 / HP ......
Maybe I'm figerin' wrong... can someone help this ole' dummy out ?
Just kidding, obviously... only thing wrong with this is that I'm not Gale Banks getting all that profit !
I don't disagree with you and I am not trying to start anything, but you cannot get an exhaust, gauge pack and the predator for $400. I do agree with you however just for the six gun module at 848 is more expensive for 100 hp. You can get the 100 HP actually for more than twice the price actually . All the other add-ons I believe help you monitor and lower EGT's giving you more consistant power which we all want.
I would like to do some "calculmaniating" on my own:
375 /100 = $3.75 / HP ......for predator...pretty darn good.
629/115 = $5.47/ HP.....for edge with attitude....not bad....but wait there is more...digital gauge for EGT, Boost, RPM, and % backdown....value between $100-$200....automatic backdown feature to help protect from too high EGT....nice....aprox $25 value.....audible alert when EGT gets too high....allows you to keep your eyes on road and not gauge...potentially the cost of your wrecked truck.....and shift power on the fly from stock to 115hp....so you control when the power is there and not....priceless (I like to be in control).....so when all is said and done...predator wins on hp to $. But when you look at the big picture edge/attitude gives more bang for buck hands down...IMO
I see you all over these boards touting the predator which is a great product.....I thought I would give my $.02 and tout a different product....competition is good. Just having some fun.

at first i wanted the edge, but i really want the diagnostics. and if u factor that into ur equation...a NGS star tester is about 2600 bucks, but the predator does about 1/2 of what the NGS does so figure it to b worth another 1300 bananas! thats not too bad bang for ur buck either?? just a thought
Banks makes good products but they have always been overpriced. You can put together your own aftermarket "kit" for a lot less money and have the same if not more power.

Banks price on there intercooler kit is not bad at all. especially for an intercooler that is so vehicle specific. There is no generic intercooler that will fit this truck. This is not your generic front mount that can be made to fit several different types of applications. A LOT of R&D went into this thing. Get on line and price different front mount intercooler. For a quality intercooler you can spend easily $1100 to $1400 just on the intercooler alone.

Boy are they ever, on everything.
They are up against tuff competition, to be over priced
You guys are missing the point!!! Nobody, but nobody does the research like Banks!!! They are truly the highest priced product on the market this can not be denied. But, you absolutely get what you pay for. There are many good products on the market but none with the proven track record of a complete bundle as with Banks. Yes, Superchip and Predator cannot be denied. They are a good bang for your buck. But, do they have the built in safety factors? Do they provide a complete package that has been tested as a "Bundle"? No, they do not. We are guessing/trusting when we put products together which have not been tested as a "Bundle" Most often they work and they work good!!! But, are they allowing your vehicle to run at it's greatest potential? We guess/trust that they do. With Banks they tell us what they have done, how they did it and what it will do. There is no doubt in my mind their sales information has (). But they all do!!! When you buy Banks you pay for their research, 45 years of endurance racing experience and American Quality. They are the best. If you want some truth and honesty about the product ask the tens of thousands of Motorhome owners that drive this stuff everyday. Reliability is what a 65 year old man wants when he and his wife hit the road behind the wheel of their life savings. They don't want stuff breaking down on them. And by God when I'm 65 years old sitting behind the wheel of my motorhome I still want to get a () when I stomp on the gas. It's just rediculus to argue about a few bucks when we've all spent so () much to buy the truck in the beginning. We all wanted the best truck our hard earned money could buy, so why stop there buy the best aftermarket goodies. All of us should ride off into the sunset with smiles on our faces, () and a Banks Power (). God Bless America, Our Military Troops and the Ford Power Stroke Diesel!!!!!!!!
Richard, noone is denying that Banks sells good products, but best on the market? A lot of other companies do their research as well and putting together your own mod "kit" saves money and often produces more power. The reason you pay more money for Banks than other aftermarket products is because of the name. That doesn't mean they've done more research or sell better products.
By the way, you might want to read the guidelines on posting in this forum. There is some language in your post that is not permitted here.

I don't agree with you that you just pay for the name. The Six gun shooter at 848 is close to the same price as the Edge tuner with the power settings. I don't really like the idea of having a chip that I have to settle for one power setting so that would not work for me but this is just an opinion. I trust Banks because of the overload protection in their product that is not in other ones. I do agree with you that you can build a system on your own. For those of us that are not as detail oriented as others in here that have to do the maximum research required to put a system together piecemeal or by buying things multiple times to find the right options, Banks offers a buy once and get what you are looking for product. That is really where the Banks product is a better deal.
