I fried all the glow plugs in my '86 F350 6.9 Crew cab dually. There's a few with the tips missing, which indicates that the broken tips are still in the cavities. Will I have to retrive the broken tips or will it be alright leaving them in. If I have to, how do I remove the tips?
Thanks
More than likely they have already gone out the exhaust. This problem you discribe is caused by the glow plug burning out, (staying on too long) you may possibly have a bad controller.
Thanks for the reply. Yes the controller stayed on too long which fried the glow plugs. I did have one broken tip stuck in the cavity which prevented the new glow plug to be insert all the way. I tried blowing it out with air, then I tried using a jet-vac but no sucess so I drilled it (with very little pressure) and the broken tip popped thru. Hopefully it will blow out the exhaust.
