Question rollers or stock

i'm almost done building my 390, the only part i don't have is the rockers? i have an old set of adjustables but i was wondering if rollers might pull a few more horses out of my engine? i also heard there more durable ? its a 1967 390 with forged pistons, h-beam rods, edelbrock rpm heads & intake, demon 750 carb , and a comp xtreme energy cam w/ 284/296 dur & 584/588 lift.

LOL!! well you have some good money in it now.. I have nothing against roller rockers

I have them..(ersons) with that high of lift of hydraulic cam it wont hurt..

and also free up some vertical stress on the valve train..Plus it will help the motor to spool up faster..less friction..run cooler etc..

I went with the ersons like Ratsmoker and Gtex..The thing that sold me..they were the only ones I had found with roller bearing...instead of just a bushing bearing?

I'd definitely recommend them, as well. I bought these Doves for mine, with the Comp 292 & Edel heads. I'd get the Ersons now, though. They were on a 6 month back order when I got the Doves. With that much cam and those heads, you should step up from the stockers, in my opinion.

Ya Led..you might be building a stiffer motor than I am??? and now is no time to skimp on parts.. JMHO!!

Im into mine about 6mo. now and will be another 18 months before I think its right to bolt together.. Take your time and Enjoy the build..

You'll end up being happy with the results..something YOU built..and no one else!!

Plus then you'll know how to work on it!! LOL!! take care..Russ

I don't have the ersons Russ. I only wish I had them. I bought the stock adjustables back before the ersons got a good reputation on the boards. They are the best bang for the buck by far though. The only thing better is the T&D setup and it is about $1000. The doves are good too and only about $250 I think but they don't come with the sturdy shafts and stands. Those are $eparate.

Thanks, the only place I know of to buy the doves is from www.dscmotorsport.com . The reason for the sound my truck makes besides the cam is the 3" tubing with the H-pipe. The next time I do it I am going to run 2 1/2" pipe with an X-pipe. I like the sound now but the neighbors aren't all too fond of it. They say their dishes rattle in their cabinets.
