I just went to the Ford Parts House and got a quote of $181 bucks. International quotes $94.80. Worth the phone call.
I was having a problem with my 97 PSD. Seems to have been the VSS, but a CPS intermittent error code also poped up. I reset the PCM....and haven't installed the new CPS yet. Should I? Or was the error tied to the VSS?
Looking at the front of the engine, the bottom pulley on the front of the crankshaft, it is at about 10:00 position. 10mm bolt, a little help from a small prybar or screwdriver (careful - it is plastic) and it will come right out. 10 minute job on my first one, 5 minutes thereafter. I have not removed anything to get to it yet, go up from below. There is room even for my beefy hands.

i got the same codes and the same problem, if you put the cmp sensor in will you tell me if that was the problem b/c i dont want to replace it then it not be the problem
Change the CPS now. You'll have nothing but trouble if you don't. They are notorious for sudden unannounced failure. Count yourself lucky to get the code most don't.
