I have a 04 psd cc and have the silverstar 9007's in the headlights and 9005's in the Fog's. Got them at wall mart for around $40 a pair,, The fogs where a pain to put in,, I could not fit my hands in from underneath. if I didn't have a front licence plate seems it would have been easier,, I ended up taking my grill off to change the fog light bulbs which made it easier to replace them,, The mod in the last post is that for 03 and older as my 04 fog lights work with the parking lights but I did that mod on my friends 03 lighting,, but I beleive still go off with the high beams,, but will work now with the parking lights on only,,
According to the Ford factory manual, the '03 and '04 forlights are wired the same.
I also heard, you can buy an light switch for an automatic style headlight system and then the fogs will come on with the parking lights.
BTW, I also installed the silverstar headlights on my truck and "OH!" what a difference. The fogs are next....
ok.. my 04 has the auto lamp switch although I use it manually,, maybe that is why my fogs work with my parking lights,, I'm also going to be butting a set of Hella 550's on my pushbar when it comes in so I'll be seeing the road very well..
it details some of the better brands and models vs the bad ones. i read the whole site and am glad, since i was thinking about buying those SilverStars. Now I'm looking for the Philips VisionPlus for a better bulb!
The Silveratars are great. I put them in both trucks and got most of the rest of the family to convert. We don't have many streetlights out here, so whatever you've got on board is about it.
i believe i read that the 2005 SD's have a new bulb, 9008. i guess replacement bulbs are only available at the dealer and aftermarket bulbs are on the way.
just put them in my 04 250, wow what a difference expecially the fogs!!! i was looking the old bulbs were 42 watt, the 9005's are 50watt. and yes it is definatly easier after taking off the grill to replace the fogs. very happy!!
Has anyone noticed the life of the various bulbs? I was going to buy the Silverstars until I looked on Sylvania's website and noticed that the life in hours for the low beam is only 150 and the high beam is only 90. Their stock replacement headlights are rated at 500 hours for low beam and 250 for high beam. I couldn't justify paying three times more for a bulb that is going to blow 3 times quicker even though it is brighter. What's everyone else's thoughts?
