I recently noticed a difference in the sound of the fuel pump on my 94 Bronco XLT(5.8L, 254,000 miles). Also, a few days ago the fuel gage went haywire for a few minutes. Today, the engine started fine, ran for about 5 seconds, and died. I do not hear any noise from the fuel pump now when I turn the ignition on.
I checked the fuse and relays, and have power to and from the inertia switch. I jumpered the fp contact on the diagnostic link connector and the fuel pump still doesn't make any noise.
I also got a 542 code from the KOEO test. Based on this, does anybody know whether I need to replace the fuel pump or if I need to replace the EEC?
allow me to email you,or email me and I will copy the codes and steps and send them to you if you would like.I can't link it as it is a pay site I belong to.
