Toyotas got Bill Fords attention

Ford Chairman and CEO Bill Ford Jr. admits Toyotas a frormidable competitor in the car and now the truck market. Toyotas planning building an assembly plant outside San Antonio next year to build there pickup. Ford says company engineers are prepared to up date the 150 accordingly to counter anything Toyota puts out. He says they do have our attention. Sounds like we havent seen everything yet as of the 150.

Well i remember the Ford Escort my Father had many years ago .
It had nothin, an engine , seats , a roof , and that was pretty much it...

Then he got a Toyota, wow , it had a RADIO, hell it had a HEATER!!! The Ford had nothin......

Point im makin is Ford were happy to sell rubbish till someone else came along and uped the anti, now Ford ( at least over here ) are puttin more into there product than before ...

When i started to check out getting my new wheels the best deal was on the Ford , the Nissan PathFinder came a close second, and the Toyota came in last ...

Now Ford is giving the best deal by a mile ..

That would never have happened if the Japs did'nt put it up to them. We'd still be drivin around in radio'less, heater'less, tin cans..

Eh , that's just my two cent's worth!!!!
What was the question again !! :-)

Good luck

if it were up to me i would send all the jap cars and everything thing else forgin made out of this country. people are buying those cars and saying that its made in the USA. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO its only assembled here and the profits from it are going over seas. just think people buying those cars might actually be financing a war or terrorist act aginst this country. Just think that Toyota Camery someone just bought might finance the bomb that landed on your house.

Yes but how can you not say at the same time that the Ford you just bought did not finance another timothy Mcvay?

It is quite sad, I think, but the reality is not EVERY part of ANY American made/produced vehicle is in the U.S.A.
Some makes have more than others, but none run pure red, white, and blue blood.

Humans historically are lazy without competition, it looks as thought Ford and a few others, have it now…………….perceived or real, it is here.

Well I hate to break it to you guys. But we did this to ourself. After the war we sent the money for Japan to rebuild its factorys. Then they took the ball and ran for a touchdown. They set up factorys with the latest and greatest equipment, they put into effect working conditions for thier people surpassed by no one else. Did you know that if you do a good job for the company not only you but your son and grandson will have jobs there? They promote good health by having group exercise, they have doctors on staff to tend to your needs. They dont have unions to dictate what the worker should make, instead they pay a worker what he or she needs to have a good life. And what did we do? Well we continued to produce big expensive cars that guzzled fuel, over paid workers and then charged them for health care that wont pay enough for good health care. Then when that got too expensive we have most of our parts built in other countrys cause its cheaper. Think about this in 1979 we were paying 17.50 an hour for someone to install the lt upper door hinge on a new truck, then when the hinge failed they paid a mechanic $2.50 to remove and install a new one.
Where is the logic in that? OK OK BREATH!!!!!! Thats better, I COULD BE WRONG.
Now the Jap's are looking over thier shoulder at us and saying "OK ROUND EYE YOU SO SMART, WHO WIN WAR?"

The bottom Line is that if we do not buy there **** then they will not be wanting to put there factories in our country. I understand that we did it to ourselves, BUT its time for a change. Wait until there are no more U.S auto makers in the U.S. or when Toyota starts ruling Nascar, Honda has done it to Indy 500. Tell your friends ,family to please buy American.

Buy American owned, Buy American Made OR BYE American jobs

yes but atleast most of the money made off of the ford you bought will stay here and not go to those crazy countries like japan and so on. you can hardly trust any of those countries over there. they are all so touchy. look at all we did for iraq. those people there are not capable of having a government like ours. they cant even take care of themselves. once we pull our people from there it will be total caos

are you referring to the ford foundation? if a may, i think all the big three have turned their backs on the american workers ( nafta) . i also remember hearing stories when i was a little boy about the constant strife between labor and the big three, i knew several grown ups that i would overhear their conversations of the day, laughing, how they would drop nuts and bolts and the such in the doors and what not so as to create a rattle or buzz in the new vehicle coming off the line. so with that i think the labor also turned their backs on the american car companys. the company and the worker share a responsibilty in what has transpired to the industry over the years. of course there are GOOD arguments on both sides of the coin. toyota has the largest car producing plant in the world, its located in the USA.

as for toyota having the largest car producing plant in the USA. I DONT CARE CAUSE THE PROFITS ARE GOING TO JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!!! why dont people see this. i say we cancel NAFTA, send the forgin cars back and keep our jobs here. alot of jobs have left the country since NAFTA was passed. its like those goofy people that work at the Ford sharronville plant here and buy a toyota and work for ford. then they drive it right in the lot there and park. thats real bull crap right there.

If the american companies had continued making competive quality products japan never would have managed to get a foot hold in north america. The big 3 have no one to blame but them selves. I welcome competition its what keeps products competitively priced and high quality. The japanese have fought an up hill battle in north america and won I say good for them.
