Hello out there, anyone have any information on 41 Ford COE VIN #'s - no tgs on the body and I don't have the frame any help would be appreciated as to find someone that knows how to find information... TNX 47 coeman
First off, welcome to the Forums! No tags on body, and no frame, and no transmission, there are no more VIN numbers left on the truck. Ford put the VINs on the frame, transmission bellhousing, and a plate in the glove box door, that's all. So without these, then the truck no longer has a VIN number on it.

You have satisfied some of my needs, do you know what a 41 COE vin would look like ??? and is it layed out like my 49 COE in which it tells the place of manufacture color and engine type although I know all of the COE's had V8's, any extra responce would be appreciated... TNX 47 COE Man
Pre '48 VIN's tells nothing about color, only way to tell that is to check in places for remaining paint. Plant where the truck was made is not told in early VIN's either, all you can tell is model, engine, and serial number. Some of the pre '48 COE's had 6 cylinders as an option, seen one that had one, and it was in the VIN that it should have a 6, but they are rare in the bigger trucks. Not sure if after '47 they became the only engine choice in COE's, but before '48 a 6 was optional.

I have been able to establish that 55K COE's were built between 1938-1947 not many as they were used for deliveries, shorter wheel base longer bed, makes sence. I still have not been able to establish how the vin # were layed out for the 55k that were built any places I can go to verify TNX

Not sure how diff the VIN on a COE is, but this forum's moderator, 41Clay has a 1 ton '41, hopefully he will be by soon and can help on the VIN's for bigger '41 trucks. My specialty is the '42 -'47's, with some knowledge of pre '42's.
Also, I found the link to another COE guy that use to pop in here now & then. Check out Bill's site and you should be able to email him with your questions.
Carlene TNX for the steer as I know Bill well I have two coe's on his web page and I will say hello> Keep your ears open for me as Bill can't help me either, as you know he is in Australia... Skip 47coeman
I am hoping you can help me. We have what we believe is a 1947 Ford Truck that has sat for years. We have been trying to find the VIN number. We found this on the frame rail above the steering box * 799Y206I455 *. The 799Y is hard to read but I am pretty sure that is what it is. We want to get a title as the truck has not been registered for years that we are aware of. Can anyone help confirm this is a correct VIN number for a 47 Ford truck?

This is a vin of a 41 coe, it has a star in front as well as in back, can you make sence of it. I am still working on obtaining access to my research... TNX 47coeman star99T279577star
That sounds like a normal vin for any '39-'42 Truck with a V8. The vins aren't very descriptive. What made it different by year was the serial number - low numbers = early series, high number = later series.
MTFLAT TNX for the breakdown of the vin on the 41 is their a way to tell what the # of production is ? and what do the stars mean front and back. last question how do you find the information pertaining to the vins... TNX 47coeman
