No More Powerstrokes?

I heard Ford was doing away with the powerstroke engine in 2002, and going to replace it with a smaller engine.
Has any one heard that rumor?
What are they going to replace it with?

Ford is building a new version of the Powerstroke. It will be a 6.0 liter with 305hp and more torque, I'm not sure how much. Go read about it at www.blueovalnews.com. They are also going to build what I believe is a 4.6 liter V6 diesel for the 1/2 ton trucks....Les

I hope the 4.6 liter diesel isn't a spin off of the 4.2 liter v-6 gas motor. I remember chebbie doing that years back with the 350 diesel, That didn't work. lol

No More Powerstrokes?

It sure didnt Brad and im sure ford isnt that stupid god i hope not atleast but i will believe all this when i see it since i didnt visit that website yet its just heresay and i doubt "blueovalnews" is ford corp anyway so it still maybe unreliable but ford better have something on tha back burner with the new sierra having a 8.2 liter big block and a 6.6 diesel that rivals the powerstroke they better get rid of these wimpy modular motors and tune up the powerstroke if the expect to stay the sales leader for the 24th year or whatever im sure they do they havent let me down yet, cept when they dumped all the tried and true motors for this weak small displacemnt high revving but still doesntmake any power modular motor line up doh

Blue Oval News is in no way affiliated with Ford. Ford tried to have their web site stiffeled and did in fact shut them down for a time. The new powerstroke engines are not going to be built by Ford and consequently will not share anything with any of Ford's other engines. Navistar will be building both the new powerstroke and the V6. They will both be pushrod engines with 4 valves per cylinder. They will have a variable pitch turbo and an evolution of the HEUI injection systen which amoung other things will be quieter.

Tim,

You beat me to it... I noticed the date issues as well...

Someone surches an old thread... and off we go!!!

Here's my questions (maybe they have already been answerd)? (Ha, ha)

1) I bet he wants to know what oil to use (regular or synthetic)?

2) What are the stats for new diesel motor (oh, that's right 6.0L)?

3) I here Ford will discontinue the Excursion in '03?

4) Boy, these Excursion tires stink.. wonder if they will do a recall?

Take care,

Jeff
