Does anyone know if downloading music off from Morpheus is legal? I know KaZaa had problems, but when I downloaded Morpheus they said it was new and legal. I'm just wondering though. I doubt it's legal to get music off from them, but lots of people are doing it so join the crowd right?
Downloading copyrighted materials, without consent from the copyright holders, is illegal no matter what you talk yourself into. Now as for Morpheus, I havent seen that. They may pay some royalties to certain artists, but I still doubt it. Now why would you want to steal music? Would you mind if someone came onto your jobsite, and just took some of your (insert job's product/service here)'s? Before I pull out the soap box, I have used similar programs before. Many people say 'well dont worry, I will buy the cd'....but never do. I use the program for sampling only. 75% of the mp3s I have downloaded, have resulted in cd purchases. Downloading music doesnt affect only the artist. No matter what you decide, just realize that Morpheus could be a hop, skip, and a jump away from the same position Kazaa is in.
morpheus and kazaa used to be the exact same thing, but then it changed formats and is full of even more spyware. From what i understand you can download stuff all you want, but when you make it available for others to download (you uploading) then that when they get you.
Morpheus = spyware. There is software out there (free) that has no spyware. But be aware, your ISP would probably take a very dim view of your using it (like that is really stopping anyone). Most agreements with ISP's have a clause that says you will not be operating a server; that is what these types of software packages enable you to do. If you do like "sharing" files, consider using WinMX.
