what do you think ..

I have a 1995 E150 with a 4.9L gasoline engine now. With the increase in fuel prices, I was thinking about installing a diesel engine in the van to get better fuel mileage. Any thoughts?

fredm, if you really want a diesel Then I would suggest buying a e250 with a diesel in it already there are so many differences in what you have opposed to a diesel it would cost you more to convert than to buy one. the front suspension would have to be changed to carry the extra weight computer,wiring,radiator,transmission,motor mounts crossmembers nearly everything on the truck so if you don't have a wreck somewhere that you could take piece by piece I don't reccomend it the higher milage isn't worth all of that espessially since diesel fuel is higher than gasoline in most places I have found.

Thanks for the info. that is what I thought it would be to convert from gas to diesel, I wanted to go to folks with more experience to verify.
