2000 F350 tranny
Have read several messages about the tranny and tc. Just bought this truck today-2000 F350 DRW crew cab auto. with 20K on it. What should I look out for and should I have someone look at it before I haul (4 horse gooseneck) with it? Would you recommend extended warranty?

Hi, your truck should already have an external transmission cooler so just keep your eye on the trans fluid change at all reccomended intervals unless it gets dark or smells burnt in between then by all means change it it is alot cheaper than the transmission!!!! John

2000 F350 tranny
I have an early 99 F-250 which I bought new in may of 98, I have A powerstroke with an automatic trans. I tow A 30 travel trailer when not towing my truck sits in my garage. This trailer weighs 12,000 lbs loaded, I now have 56,000 miles on the truck, just recently I changed the tranny, fluid for the first time, I would challenge anyone to differentiate the fluid that came out from the fluid I placed back into it, it honestly looked just as clear/red as the new. Therefore in my way of thinking the stock tranny cooler must be plenty sufficent enough to protect and care for the tranny!! I have pulled this trailer from No. Carolina to California three times, now were talking desert heat plus pulling over the rockies, plus numerous other places, and the tranny is as smooth and as postive as new!!
