Hi all. been a while since I have been on. Just wanted to inform that my 2000 F350 was stolen this week and it is likely that I will have to replace it. It is doubtful that I will get a deal as sweet as the one I had and ]being i consider you all a great resource of knowledge, I am looking for advice for a replacement. Which years of F350 diesels do you recommend as far as not having tranny or fuel injector, or other major issues known to occur? and since I miss it so much, I posted pics of the truck...and the stupid punks that jacked it...
Ah man, that sucks. I had a Jeep stolen once, they took it from my driveway and I never heard a thing. The police "found" it parked a few blocks away cross ways across someone's driveway (who called the police) and they had left it running. There was blood all over the inside of it. Apparently the idiots used a knife to slice open the side soft top window to "break in" (yeah, breaking in to a soft top Jeep...). And they sliced their own hand while doing it. I met the cops there and they showed me the interior. I told them I was disappointed that there wasn't a few finger tips down in the floor boards.
Had a cherokee stolen about 15yrs ago. The theives used it to burgerlurize other trucks and steal tools. Cops got them after about 3 days and a chase all over town. They got caught trying to drive through a 3 foot snowbank and hung it up. Hope you get yours back in good shape...mine was trashed.
Mine wasn't as bad as yours, they broke out the drivers door window and got in. The aggravating part was they broke in the first time at 7:00 PM got my lap top, then came back at 11:00 PM and got my iPad, rain gear, and my gun box which fortunately was empty. Hotel was notified by another guest the first time and no one did a thing. I was 2 spaces from the front door. I found it at 7:30 the next morning.
I have lost a couple.. never recovered... and lost lots of money as the insurance companies SUCK....
I can not offer any advice... but show insurance companies any and all receipts for repairs and upgrades....
I have never owned a diesel.. maybe someday .. after the makers get 20 years of production.. like on the gas engines of EPA mandates.
Thanks! Unfortunately, what few receipts I had were in the glove box! I guess I will change that habit...BTW...This was my first diesel and I will always look for another first. I like it that much!
All,
Thanks a bunch for all your input and support. I got word over the weekend that my truck has been recovered and it is in the hands of the insurance company as wee speak (I bought an extra tube of hemorrhoid cream). I should get to see it in the next day or so (I commute to work) and will provide some details later!

So the police didn't call you and tell you where your truck is? Or did you just call your insurance directly to let them know, so they can deal with it?

Glad it's been recovered! Hopefully they catch a jack wagons that pinched it too.
Curious though... What could your insurance company do with it without the key? Wouldn't the police just call you up and let you know where it is, and/or arrange a pick-up time for it so they can be there when you take it back?
had my truck stolen in San Diego in 2007. thieves used it to hook up to a toy hauler and drive across the border and left truck. stole the wheels, mirrors, turbo, batteries, tailgate, and bumpers. only way we got it recovered was they left the insurance card in it and a friend who was a SD police officer was able to find it. we finally got it back across the border. if had $500 more in damage it would have been totaled. Insurance company paid for everything and ran like a champ afterwards. hope your truck is still able to be driven
