Talking I know a Bronco ain't no sports car,... but...

Yeah, I am aware of the fact that a 5000lb truck should handle like it's supposed. Yet, even with my current rig, I've been able to beat some cars and truck in the street. I just want mine to be even faster and maybe squeeze out a couple more mpgs. I've seen down here really fast C-1500 Chevy Silverados equipped with the 350 V-8, TBI, A/T and they are really quick (the 2WD ones) so what not create a Ford truck that can defeat them... Even the I-6 can be fast sometimes, but just not enough to please me. I once drove another 2WD Bronco with a 351M stock and even though it is a torqueish engine, it was fast and powerful as hell! Of course the 2WD Bronco handles much better than a 4WD and thus it behaves more like a sporty truck...

a couple of years ago I seen a high13 low 14 second full Size Bronco(about 84 or 85) at the drag races in Sydney NS . I think it had a 460 and a 4 inch lift .

Yea, but if you had that 700 pony mill in a car it would do better than 11's

But if you put all that money into a 700 horse mustang, it wouldn't be run of the mill!

no problem, check this 11's bronco out, the videos are awsome! I know you probbly wont listen to use on the street racing issue. You know we have all done it and shouldnt tell you not to. But when we did, we were wrong too. It was differant though, less traffic, differant roads, and i know you dont wanna hear this, cause it sounds braggy, but not so many years ago, we used to grow up driving. I know I was on the road long before I ever had a license, everyting from farm tractors to tractor trailers. When I finally went to a school for CDL's, I spent most of my time in the sleeper, I drove the fist time, and when I used 5 of the 10 gears to get up to speed, with no sea sickeness, the erst of the time was spent on the other students. NOT that we are or were better than you, but we lived in a differant time, so the saying goes. Now days there are LEGAL places you can race, and get REAL info on your runs. We didnt have this, but if we had, you can bet, that i woulda settled all my affairs at the track, a lot less debate then a street race, the clocks dont lie.

This guy does it like it should be done. I dont care for draggin bronco's myself. Bronco's are what started todays SUV's, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES.

Off road when you want to,
groceries when you need to,
and WORK cause you HAVE TO!

What more can you ask of a vehicle? I can chase cows through the rough with the fourwheelrs, drive it to work everyday, haul all the kids and sometimes the wife if i have to, look good doing any of it. And still turn them little slammed s10 owners heeds when I go by. And when their ZIPPING around town sounding like they are battery powered and thinking they are so cool. They still take a good look when a 4x4 rumbles by, and can get on it and raise the front and set the rear with the torque. This is from the basic stock setup, when i get the 5.8 rebuilt with long heeders and duals a rumble cam and air lock the rear, and the smarts to get on it when and where I can show them up. When you learn all those things, you got it.

I dont street race anymore, but if one goes to pass me, i know what my bronco will do, and if it can, I will get in it, and keep them behind me, just to let them know us old guys do know a little somthin somthin about cars too !

Talking 13 sec, sounds good to me...

12's in a Bronco is a bit much to ask for but I like your thinking, my 89 Mustang runs in the mid 12"s so naturally when I brought my 95 Bronco 5.8 4 yrs ago I wanted more speed. So far I've added Flowmaster II cat-back, K&N FIPKA, BBK underdrive pulleys, and soon plan to install a Superchip. before I add Bassani headers and Y pipe I think I'll do the mass air conversion. I know the Big Bronc will run low 14 to high 13's. Good luck on yours. Not all Bronco owners are into 4 wheeling. Looking for an Impala SS to smoke!!!

Sure you can make a 12 second Bronco if you have the money. But no amount of money will change the aerodynamics of the truck. I'd say that you will need around 700 HP to overcome the breadbox aerodynamics, and tons of torque to get it going, and then you will need to dump a bunch more money figuring out what kind of chassis mods a four wheel drive truck with a fiberglass top needs to get it down the line. Remember that all of that torque cause the frame and body to twist, and that fiberglass top just might split in two...

All in all it sounds like a fun project if you have the money, and a completely stupid one if you don't and enjoy being broke.

The Bronco you all are reffering to belong's to a fella named Pat.He drag races regularly on the weekend's.He just got wider slicks to help it hook up when he comes off the tranny brake. With the 5000 stall he has in it now it won't hook up.His best is 11.35 he's hopeing for 11 teen's once he hook's up.He also has a new 598 CI Ford he's building so he can get in the 10's.To each is their own,I think it's pretty cool.

well unlike pat i realy dont whant a 11 or 12 sec bronco 13s is good enough for a truck. yeah i do relize i would have to reinforce the frame to prevent twisting. hey 94F150-408 did u have to reinforce your frame on your bronco?

No, I dident do any frame reinforcing to my Bronco. I dont know that you would need it if you had a 13 second rig?

More power to Pat and his 11 second Bronco, cool thing is that if you heard that someone has a 11 second Mustang, it wouldent turn many heads now would it? Like I said before, I'm far more impressed by the person who takes the time and effort to make a rig like this into a fast machine!
