I was given a chip (nvk3) for my 2001, 4x4, auto PSD 7.3.
I was wondering if this chip was ok to use in the truck and how much hp is it rated for, and will it do any damage. I am not a hot rod, but would like a little more pep in the step so to say. Any info will be aof help. Thank you.
NVK3 is the PCM code on your truck that it was programmed for. No way to tell what horsepower its set for without more information. If its a 4 bank chip it should work, if its a 1 bank it may or may not. Install it and find out... it won't hurt the truck if it doesn't work --- just won't start with the chip in it.
I am not a chip expert as you well know. My friend said it was a 75hp, but he used it in his 99. I was just wondering about how you can tell who made it and know if it is programed correctly. I did put it in and it worked, the truck will get down the road, i just dont want to do any thing to my truck that would hurt it, i prob will not go over the 75 hp, untill i get the other stuff that goes with the higher chips. My main concern is knowing who made it and if i can get it checked. it has the conector that just slides on to the main computer and i can close the cover and it does not interfear with the mounting of my computer at all. it has a conector i guess for programming, the connector looks like it has 4 pins sit in a box shape. any help will help, ha ha . Thank you.
If its Superchips it will be gold and have Superchips stamped on it. It its Diablo it will be red and have horns. Most others pretty much look the same, or like a Superchips clone without "Superchips" stamped on it.
