Question problems with 6.0 l

We have not had a problem with our truck until now. what happens is while pulling our new horse trailler (7800 kg) the truck will shake and hessitate when you step on the throttle the truck will seem to bog down and will not increase in speed, you have to let the truck slow down and smooth out and when it does it will be fine, for a few hours, or days it does not happen on a regular basis so when we take it to the dealer the truck is fine and the say nothings wrong. they put it on the computer and there were no error codes or problems. all they sugested was to put in the newest program. I don't want to change the program yet because of problems I have heard with some of the programs you can have poor fuel mileage and way more engine noise. The dealer won't say changing the program will fix the problem. So I don't know what to do.

The truck has 25,000 km we get about 13.4 m/gal on the display

Any help would be greatily appricated

thanks in advance, SDF

What is your motor build date.
Have you tired stoping and re-starting the truck when it does this.

the build date is nov 2003 The sticker on the engine says 2004.

No by the time we get the truck down to 30 mph its fine and could be fine for days. Its only happened to me once but its happened to my wife half a dozen times.

What do you think of the newest program for the 6.0 L

Mine has never been flashed, yes it has a few idiosyncrasies, and it does make my butt itch sometimes.
However I do live with some of the issues because I love my original flash and will not give it up……easily.
I have stooped more than once… turned it off and re-started……….then no problems.
So I am not one to answer your question on the new flash.

so just live with it I guess ? Because I don't think the new progam is the answer.

Do you think it could be the tranny because it only happened when pulling the trailler, with or without the tow haul button activated. My wife is quite worried due to the fact she is haulling the horses often by herself and dosn't want to be stranded on the road.

So many out there I was waiting to see what the best one would be. I was leaning towards the Banks Six gun tunner. What do you suggest ?? Do you run one ??

Super Duty Fan,

There is only 1 flash available for the 04/04 trucks [RC1 B29.6, released 1/10/04]. You can view what it does here http://www.flatratetech.com/6literpo...l_updates.html

Sounds like this flash may address the problems you are having. Also another thought is to check and see if the wiring harness is chafing on anything. This has been a problem with some trucks.

Good luck. Hope this helps

I have heard that the part of the calibration monitors your trans temp. If the ATF gets too high then the computer will take fuel away from the engine, so if this only happens when you are towing that really heavy trailer this could possibly be a problem. Dont really know just a thought.
