Well, my trucks rear end actually. I think I have the 9.75" back axle, not the 8"... just from looking at pictures on the web. Which axle is the stronger axle, the 9.75 or the 8? Just curious... and I'd like to know because I will be regearing it soon I think.
The tag on the rearend itself will say it. It has the gear oil type and 975 355LS. From what I hear the 9.75 has a 34 spline axles????? Drivetraindirect is where I got the gears and instal at, less than $600
I figured mine was the 9.75 because I went to drivetrainsuperstores.com and it shows a picture of the rear end with a 8.8 and with the 9.75. Mine looks like the 9.75, not the 8.8.
And yep, I was planning on going with the 4.10s as well. I did some tire/gear ratio figuring, and with 4.10s and 35" tires I'll be right around 2300 RPMs at 60-65 MPH, which is right in my powerband where I wanna be, and I'll still have some acceleration at take off. Right now with the 35" tires on, I cant even squeal my tires unless it is WET. Not that I want to squeal my tires, but it is nice to know I've got the power to if I wanted to.
Anyone know if they put anything other than the 8.8 in the front of the F150's from 97-03?
