Socaldesertrider you will love plaster city . At lest I did last time I was there. It is hard pack and loose rock with some sand in the washes... gulleys.. When I was there I Me and my wife was playing ...tag... with an Apache chopper. We had a blast.I had an 2 seater dune buggy with an nitrous fed 1835 vw with long travel A arms the chopper won
Any of you guys done the Rubicon in a full size? How much body damage can I expect? I would love to do this trail. Sorry if I'm getting a little off subject here.
'Freak sounds like you guys had some fun with that chopper! Yeah I like a little of everything as far as terrain, Plaster City sounds good to me.
F350, I've never been to the Rubicon, but I'd really love to take the early Bronco there... I've seen pictures of full size Blazers, Broncos and 1/2 ton shortbeds on a few of the trails there. Don't remember seeing any without body damage, but you know the magazines, they mostly take pics of the hardcore rigs... I like your headless BinLaden pic by the way!

Yeah I'm hearing that there are different routes you can take on the Rubicon. Some guys built the Rubicon up by stacking bolders to make it alot harder but not exactly sure. It would be a fun trip. Thanks for the compliment on the avatar.
If it was me I would At the least put nerf bars and boulder bars on the truck. Save the rocker panels and the front steering some what
yeah thats a good idea. wanna fabricate me some stout ones that tuck up high and run from front wheelwell to back wheelwell weldingfreak? man thats alot of w's!
The way I weld up the bars is that if you can stick an Hi Lift jack and lift the truck uo and clear both side tires then it is strong enough to take an bolder. If it where me I would put an moderate kick out in thw bar so if you get next to the boulder the bar will push the truck away so your tire will not side swip the rock... rips and gouges in the side walls of the tire if you understand what I am trying to say.
Yeah I understand, that makes sense. So how far out from the body would you say about 3-5"? I think I need to get a new highjack especially when I get the lift I need the 60" one, mine is the 48" version.
If it was me 95-F-350-4x4 I would go some where around 4-6'' Make up some drawings and take them to a fab shop so the main part with the cutting and bending is done then you can weld them up you self If you can that way you save the money on the extra tools you would need For the bending and shapeing of the tubes. E-mail me if you are intrested in a few Ideas I have.
I have taken my 78 bronco on the con many times. It is hard not to get in at least one spot every trip where you drive away with a dent. There was a guy who just took a long bed extended cab ford on the cone memorial weekend. He got alot of dents in the bed.
it all depends on how slow and cautious you are and how much your willing to hold people up behind you.

Thanks for the info! I can imagine the crowd being pretty large on a holiday weekend. I think I will go during the week so it will be less people so I can take my time. How long is the trail and how long does it take to usually complete?
