Could anyone help me determine what my door plate tells me about my truck?
The first line is the VIN: F10GCP69849 What does it tell me?
The second line is 131 6 F101 B 4 C17 I'm sure this means something!
The third line reads 04550 133 3800 21
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, where else on this truck can I find a VIN number besides the drivers door?
Lastly, my truck has factory add on air with the built in glove box. My glove box liner is missing. Is this because the add on air takes up the room behind the dash that the glove box liner would otherwise occupy?
I am new at this but having fun! I thank you for any and all replies.
Looks like you've got an F-100, 4x2, not sure on the engine, built in Ontario, Canada, built in late 69, 131" wheelbase, Outside color of Pebble Beige, 4200 GVW, interior was light blue, 3 speed ford L.D., 3.25 gears, Max GVW of 4550 lbs, 133 net horses at 3800 rpm, and it was built for a dealer in Atlanta. I'm sure someone can tell you what engine it is, my book doesn't show that code. There is also a vin decoder in the Tech Articles I believe that might hold the answer for you. Good luck!
Thanks Curtis!
Does anyone else have any further information on the VIN? The DMV said that there is a problem with it. Also anyone have answers for my other questions?
Thanks!! minesa69 (I Think)
Something's wrong with that VIN, according to it you have a '72.
There's two spots on the frame that have the VIN stamped. Easiest one to see is in the engine compartment on top of the passenger side frame rail almost inline with the alternator. Get some rags and a wire brush.
There were two different size glove boxes, the regular deep one and a shallow one used with the AC.
Thanks BB!
Do you remember if it is closer to the alternator or the firewall?
Everything about the truck indicates that it is a 69' except the door plate. That door may have been replaced with a 72' door. Do you know if they are interchangeable?
Thanks for everyones help.
Closer to the alternator, the number starts just forward of the crossmember. It's on the top of the frame rail, maybe it's all cruded up. You don't have a 4WD do you? '67 thru '72 doors are totally interchangeable.
Thanks again BB!
I will check for that number behind the alternator and no I do not have a 4wd but I am beginning to think that I have a Johnny Cash Cadillac.
Is there a VIN number on the dash up on the drivers side right at the windshield? My 71 has one there. The door could have been changed out at some time easy enough.
Clint
Thanks Clint!
That's probably a good clue there. There is not a VIN number at the windshield on the drivers side dash which means that if your truck is a '71 then they must have started putting them there after my truck was built which is supposed to be a '69.
