I love to listen to all the "stories" about how someone flipped their vehicle 15 times or got hit by a semi and was knocked over a cliff and survived because they were'nt wearing their seat belt.

I have worn a seatbelt for years, since I started driving. I wore it before it even became mandatory. It is really easy to put on, and good lord, it isn't that uncomfortable! I just don't see the big deal. I really doubt that "big brother" is trying to create a society of mindless drones by enforcing seatbelt laws.

now i do understand that seatbelts save lives and yes i wear mine, but where do you draw the line on these stupid laws that supposedly protect us? i think it is taking away my personal freedom. Now i dont think it should be nobody has to wear seatbelts, but i think a change in legislation is needed.

First off, the old one ton truck law in Texas is now gone. it doesnt matter if you drive a peterbilt or a half ton ford pickup, you must wear a seatbelt. im sorry but if you get in a wreck bad enough to kill you in an 18 wheeler a seatbelt isnt saving you. And not only that, do motorcycles have seatbelts? guess not.... lets go ahead and whittle away more of our freedoms and ban motorcycles because theyre dangerous just like fast food, guns, and cigarettes.

I feel that people under the legal adult age, 18, should be required to wear a seatbelt. but when you turn 18, i think its your own choice, youre a big boy(or girl) now. and at the least, heavy trucks shouldnt require them, after all, how can they see them when youre driving a pete anyhow?

These revenue earning babysitter laws need to stop.

I could agree regarding choice, provided that any adult that chooses to ignore proven data and not wear a belt waives any rights for injury claims or lawsuits. This way his act of choice would not effect the insurance rates of others.

Did the 1 ton law and above go out? I got my commercial again 2 1/2 yrs ago and the trooper said it was ok for her to not wear it. I had her put it on it's aiport policy and it was their truck.

i dont remember when or where i found this info out, but im pretty sure that EVERYONE has to wear a seatbelt now, you might be able to find it at the DPS website..... if they want to rid the 1 ton and up law they should at least let commercial license trucks do without the babysitting....
