Peppy said it well, but, sadly it won't happen. In this exchange, I doubt if one opinion has been changed or altered in any way regardless of the validity of the dissenting views.

there are other things that i'm fighting for but this is not one that i am fighting. i just happen to be expressing my opinion on this particular issue in this particular forum. i don't ever consider expressing my opinion wasting my time regardless of whether anyone admits to having their opinion influenced in any way by what i have said. it's just that my opinion is heard/read regardless. there are more impt things for my legislaters to be working on right now than this or else i would start petitioning them. besides, i don't want a form letter from their secretary. i have the right to believe whatever i choose to believe regardless of how popular the opinion is and i have a right to express that opinion as i choose so long as that manner is not against the law. i don't believe i have crossed that line. i do not think i ever said i was fighting this fight at all. i am simply saying what i think. i am fighting other fights that are far more impt to me. it kinda bothers me that you assume i'm completely focused on this. this is just one example in a list, including those things you mentioned, that adds up to a lot of the big problems we face daily. one by one is how they take it, and one by one we have to fight it but first we have to stop them from taking more before we can take back the things they already took from us and this is one of the smaller things that would be at the bottom of the list...

I have a 73 model truck so therefore I only have a lap belt. I do wear it when I drive. Not because of a ticket, but because it saved my butt one time. On the other hand, I don't belive the guys that passed this law care at all about any of our lives. The guys that scrape people up may care, but not the ones actualy passing the laws. They don't even know our names. I believe that a seat belt should be a personal choice. If a person has an accident, and have to be scraped up.....who does it hurt? Them or the guy passing the law. I feel that the seat belt law is all about the revenue. They don't care if we live or die....as long as they have our money.

heard a funny story today. was eating subway with a friend today and her friend that works there was talking about some new motorcyle he has, which lead to speeding tickets, which lead to seatbelt tickets and he just brought up that he thought it should be a persons choice. he said he wrote a paper about it for one of his college classes or something. it's kinda funny how many people i'm just discovering have the same or similar ideas about this.

Wow! Lots of opines out there huh? Bottom line is click it. If you do not have your seat belt on and you get caught...deal with it. Don't want a ticket, wear your seatbelt.

I'm in the Army, stationed in Germany. Here, if the Polizei (German Police) pull you over and your passenger doesn't have a seatbelt on, you, the driver gets the ticket. If you have 5 passengers and your the only one with a seatbelt, you get fined for everyone of them. Not your passengers, but the driver.

Yes, I'm also a military policeman, and yes I put my seatbelt on even if I'm backing up 5 feet...safety is a combat multiplier.

Tell your Dad good luck in the county jail...they will not be impressed with his not paying. 2 wrongs don't make it right.

You know down here in pasadena these #*^#@ cops around here don't were there belts you see them all the time but they have a badge they are invicable oh well enough on that. what's got me fired up is they have these weakend task forces to just enforce seat belt laws more or less profilng but texas also has helmet laws for riding your scoot with out a helmet but they want pull over motorcycle rider to see if the helmet less rider mets the requirments to ride lid less butt you drive the speed limit obey all rules of the road and my god let them see you sitting at a light with out that belt on and oh my god you think you just shot there mom . So wear your seat belt in this arm pit city or your gonna get a ticket ride your scoot with no medical insurance or rider training course with out your lid no problem just had to vent a little click it or ticket.

I wear my seatbelt at all times, and have been in a couple accidents of my own which would have been made much worse had I not had the 'belt on.

I got into the habit in the Army, back in the '60s, when a friend of mine was killed going through a small drainage "dip" w/o his seat belt. Bounced his head off the roof & broke his neck. I don't even start the motor w/o my belt on, nor does anyone ride in my truck w/o being belted in (even got my Mother-in-law to buckle up). "Don't leave home without it!"

Back when the 'no helmet law' was put into effect a rider who met the requirements was issued a sticker to place on (or was it beside??) the license plate to identify him/her so an officer would know and wouldnt have to harras him/her about it if it was legit. I dont know if that's the same case now though. Dont pay much attention to it cause I always wear my brain bucket when I ride.

I know I wasnt wearing a sealt belt in a an accident once. The very old man that hit me head on was wearing his belt....he walked away. I didnt, not for quite a while.

I feels its everyones right to wear the belt or not. If you arent, and you get hurt, your insurance will provide you with several reasons you should have....starting with why they wont be writing you big checks. Damages from not wearing the court ordered seat belt......leaves settlements very open for discussion.
