I just bought myself a set of white gauge overlays from procarparts for my 1987 F150 that look awesome! One problem I didn't consider before buying is that the speedometer might come in Miles/hour unlike my stock Km/hour gauge. When I first took the new gauge face out of the box I thought I didn't have a problem because it also had a smaller scale with km/h so I decided not to worry about it. However a worse problem was found when I compared the scales of the new gauge and the stock one. My stock speedometer gauge goes from 10 km/h to 180 - and 10 miles/hour to 110 miles/hour. The new gauge face goes from 0 - 120 km/h - and 0 - 85 miles/hour. So needless to say the speed I am going and the speed the gauge shows don't match at all.
My Question : Is there anyway to fix this mechanically - by swaping the gauge out or adjusting the speedo input? And will doing something like that effect my odometer?
I really want to keep the gauges because they look so damn good - but I also don't want to be traveling 170 km/h when the gauge reads 120.
did you notice the problem before you put them on, or after? i would see if you can get another set out of them. are they the reverse glow type or just overlays? if you cant get another set, or cant re-calibrate, PM me and i'll hook you up with a guy who can set you up.
