Problem pulling codes from '87 Bronco
Hey yall, I have been trying to pull codes on my 87 Bronco 302 with no luck. I followed the instructions found at fordfuelinjection.com which consists of grounding out the STI plug (the single prong plug) and turning the switch to 'On' position. When I do this the engine light comes on, but does not flash or blink or anything. I do hear the fuel pump prime and a relay click (like the ffi.com page says) but no blinking/flashing! If I remove the ground while the switch is still on then I get another click or two from a relay. Can anybody help me out on this one? I ran the ground to the battery to ensure a good ground.

Ok, on Fordfuelinjection.com, they said to just ground out the STI (single plug). As mentioned above, that didn't work. Ayoungblood, I see that on yours you connect the STI to the top left prong on the output plug. Lookinfurfun, the link you posted shows connecting the STI to the top right prong. Does anyone know for sure which one to connect to? I'm afraid if I hook to the wrong one I could mess something up! Maybe the differences are for different year models? Mine is an '87 302. Thanks.

I use the method described on the broncodata site. If you have a Chilton's manual, the same method is described in there. I think Ryan at FFI just missed one step in there.

So you are using the "count the blinks" method, not using a code reader, right? There are lots of good posts about that in the old posts on this site.
Myself, I have an attention span of a cocker spaniel so I popped for the code reader at Wal Mart. It runs the continuous self test (codes in memory), KOEO and KOER tests, even speeds up the rpms at the right times in the KOER test. . Gives codes on an LCD readout. Well worth the bucks!
