we own a '85 bronco2 2.8v6. the original tires measures are 205/75/15, when we bought it the front tires where 215/65/15 and the rear 235/60/15. a weird choice in our eyes. now my question. what tire measures are best for the bronco?
can the the tires that now are on the car cause some damage when you drive in 4x4? (because front and rear have different measures)
To keep the speedometer{spelling} right you need to stay with the size posted on the door 205/75/15.The best size that I found for ride and better control IMO is 235/75/15. Your speedometer will be wrong{you will be gooing faster ther what it shows}
Diffrent size tires front to rear will not hurt anything ,but its best to run the same size on the same axle.
Kenoo your right its not good on the t-case or front driveshaft,but I would reather have it that way then on the same axle.4 the same is the BEST BET!!
If you have smaller tires on one axle, when its in 4x4, the smaller tire will pull, and it can cuase a bind in the 4x4, cuasing you to snap u joints, ears, bust transfercases...etc.
exactly what i tought. we will purcase some new rubber for our car. until we have some same sized tires arround we will leave the 4x4 modus off . somebody some suggestions wich tires? wich are good and are not to costly?

I have a 89 b2.. no lift in front, 2 in on back to give it more of a hotrod stance... anyway i fit 31x10.5's just fine. Only rub when i jump it and even then it only rubs if i dont land squarely on at least two tires. They do rub the swaybar at when the steering wheel is at full turn though.. but only a little. Oh sorry, forgot the other part of the question. Kelly (used to be kelly springfield) Kelly Safari AWR 31x10.5... $90 a piece. They are the best tire ive ever used. Theyre almost as quiet as regular street tires on the road, but off road they grip anything. Ive been thru mud, sand, dirt hills, snow, combinations of those things and never been stuck. They really are a great tire.
I have a set of 235/75 x15 Goodyear wrangler rt/s. I put them on in 97 and now have 42k on them. Still have plenty of tread, just starting to dry rot. They ride very well and are not noisy, and are just aggressive enough for mild offroading. They are about 89 bucks each at Sam's club. I figure the speedo is off about 6.5%, when you put 235/75 in place of the 205's. So just multiply your speedo, mileage by 1.065 and you can get the actual. Only thing, the tires rub the torsion bar when you cut the steering wheel all the way. I just learned not to turn it that far. I still can make a u-turn on a two lane rd without getting off the asphalt. I love the turning radius of the Bronco II's.
If you have larger tires on back, the back will turn faster than the front. In 4x4 that will make the handling terrible, and rip apart you x-fer case. If bigger was on the front, it would probably go straighter, because the front would be pulling the back, however, never put it in 4x4 on pavement (not recommended anyway) until you get the right tires and I would only do it on dirt if it was absolutely necessary. Of course, I think that has already been settled in the previous posts
we will get 235/75-15 tires. our bronco is now in the garage for some maintance, and thing we can't do our selfs yet. before the weekend we wil have him back and then the party of laying under it will begin. (i will come more often with questions )
we have to fix some things. and after that the off roading can start (can't wait )
when we fixed the parts so we can drive it "safely" the rest of the project will start (paint-job, interior and exterior upgrade)
