I've been considering a mass air conversion... not sure if it would be better to do that or just find a 95+ 351w in a junkyard (w/ MAF) and strip off all the required components. I may have to replace a few pieces, but it sure seems like that would be cheaper. Of course, I'm not looking for the type of power you've got. I just want a little more. I might be able to get what I want and keep the stock SD setup, maybe going to a twin-61mm and port matching the upper... dunno. It'll be awhile before I can invest in this. I think I'm gonna lift it first. I've got a buddy here in DFW that runs a race / 4x4 / audio, alarm, tint, etc. shop (they do ALOT of work) and he can get me a decent deal on just about any part I need.
Hate to burst your bubble dj, but Kemical is right, you'll need to put on different heads, cam and headers for the kind of #'s your looking for. You'll get a feelable improvement with the upgrades you have listed, but there just isent that kind of HP/TQ to be had with those small improvements, sorry.
hmm... so maybe I'll just be happy with stock power till I can get the cash together for a rebuild ($700), new heads ($500), new cam($150), MAF conversion($1000), upper and lower($600), TB($300), ignition and fuel upgrades ($600-1000), headers ($400).... damn that's gonna cost more than my truck did. What's the best you guys think I can do with just the intake, TB, and headers? Is +75 lb/ft so hard to get?
thats quite a bit of torque to try to gain Josh, try putting up a thread over at the performance secton and see if you can get someone to run the numbers with the desktop dyno, its pretty accurate and can tell you about what you'll be gaining with the intake, TB and headers. If I had to guess, I would say with those just those upgrades you would be getting between 35-50 at the most. A new cam in there with those upgrades would make a big improvement toward your goal. Try performance and see if someone will run that and let us know what they come up with!
