Ranger auto trans problem

I have a 2000 ranger 3L Auto (OD). 35,000 easy miles. Sudden failure; speedometer and odometer stopped working, OD light flashes, ck engine light on, ABS light on. When first driven after shutting off , First shift from low at around 45 MPH, freewheels if gas released, then shifts erratically, violently and "hunts". Speedo started to work again for about 1 mile, then quit again. Any suggestions???

A common problem, the RABS speed sensor in the rear DIFF. is bad. Look for an electrical connection in the top of the rear DIFF., and it's held in with 1 bolt.

Thanks, I will look for it. Is it a Ford only part, or aftermarket like NAPA?

When I replaced mine, I got it from Ford, for about $20. I'm not sure if NAPA, or any other auto parts store would have it.

Thanks to some advice I got on this forum I was able to find the needed speed sensor on a web site. http://www.advanceautoparts.com/ was the name of the site. There are two others (http://http://www.rockauto.com/ and www.teamautoparts.com/ ) but they were out of the part at the time.
