We knew of each other for 3 years but dated for 1 yr. It was either get married or split up since we both were getting our Army commissions and the Army would not keep us together unless we were married. That was 8 yrs and 1 kid ago. I figured any who did not mind my hobbies (truck, fly fishing, wood working, reef aquariums, computers, etc) I should not let go.

first wife only knew for few months before getting knocked up
not a good reason for marriage lasted 10 agonizing years and had two kids together
wife number 2 on the other hand was out of choice and love and we have been together for 6 years and have 1 child together
plus the two I brought with me and the two she brought with her
my work and my truck takes up all of my time and we can plan nothing but we have each other and our kids and that is all we need
looking forward to growing old with this one
and doing that fairy tale happily ever after thing

My darling husband and I just celebrated our first anniversary. We dated for about 5 months before we got engaged, but waited a few months to tell everyone. Total time from when we started dating until we got married was about a year a, ohhh...3 months? I was 18, he was 26. Yep, I picked an older guy hoping he'd have his poop in a group. We're working on it! Heheh. Just because they're older doesn't mean they've got it together. But I'm glad I picked him to get it together with.

Strange thread for a first post but here goes.

Met in Oct, proposed Dec 4 at her company x-mas party . Set a date for 14 months later, jumped the kid gun around easter moved the wedding up to aug 31 to beat the baby . At the time it became official I was 20 she 18. It's been 13 years this Aug . Had a few reasons to end it over the years But I love her and she loves me enough to put up with all my crap so everything gets worked out.

congrats. I think that is what people forget that sometimes it is work to keep a relationship going. They give up and get divorced when the honeymoon phase runs out. I think of all my college friends only 40% of us are still married.
