Help, 4x4 not working

I have a 91 Explorer XLT, the 4x4 worked fine, then one day I pressed the the 4H button and no response. Nothing, not either light indicater comes on, I don't hear it engage either. I checked the fuses and they are good. I havent taken the switch apart to see if it is getting voltage or not, but if you have any idea on what the problem is and how to correct it, I really appreciated your help. Thanks

Most likely your shift motor needs cleaning. This is very common on 1st Gen (91-94) Ex's. Here's a link with pics that takes you through everything about it.

Thanks Bashman, but it really doesnt cover my problem.

Still haven't had a chance to get a good look at it.

Eh... I agree with bashman. What you're describing has happened to a lot of vehicles in that generation, and frequently for that reason. What makes you think it's not the T-Case shift motor?

take it to the dealer....also one piece of advice for you...only use 4WD when your in heavy snow or sand. Do NOT use on dry or wet roadways, no matter if its flooded or not. this will burn up the 4WD very quickly
