on my 74 f250 w/z 360, 2bbl autolight, whats the wet float level setting? I rebuilt it recently, and am getting alot of blue smoke and gas smell when I get down on it or clombing a hill, giving me the road runner effect. I set it cry, but want to check it wet. Rebiuld manual doesnt specify. Also I found a bb in my vacuum advance hose that I know is supposed to be in there somewhere. I never saw it during the rebuild, but ofund it troubleshooting my advance. Thanks
If i'm not mistaken wet and dry float levels should be the same. The rebuild kit should've had an assembly sheet with the specs listed. If you want to check it wet the top of the carb can be removed with the engine running. Be careful. I have never had to do this, though. I set them dry and they work fine. Are you sure it's blue smoke? Blue smoke is oil.
The BB goes under the accelerator pump discharge nozzle assembly and a metal shaft "weight" sits on top of the BB if i'm not mistaken.
On my spec sheet that can with my rebuild kit, it gives the dry setting, and for wet it says to see manufacturer manual, or something like that. Also the smoke may not be blue, cant really tell. I know ive got a little blow-by, but not this bad. I eyeballed my float level yesterday and raised it up some, and it took alot of the smoke out. I can only see a little now. Heres another ??? Sometimes if Im on the gas hard, and pull into a gas station and cut the truck off, itll wait about 5 seconds before giving a big backfire. Everyone says its "loading up" but Im not sure where to begin with that either. The accelerator pump is where the 2 jets spray gas into the manifold? Has 1 screw in the middle, and a little rod underneath?
Yep, the bb goes underneath the little rod. I'd check that and go from there. If the truck backfires after you shut it off then it must be running entirely too rich. Check to see if that bb is in there.
Ill get on that now.....I will say though that lately my truck has been running aobut 210-240, depending on traffic....Got a new radiator from work this week and man what a difference! Down to 120....Im gonna put a thermostat in this weekend to get it warm, and put that bb back in its place and Ill let yall know what happened...Have a good holiday!
