Headed to Mexico

We head off to Mexico (from Alabama) Friday on a one week mission trip. I will have two full days of driving each way plus the driving in Mexico. With 8500 miles already on my 04 SuperCrew 4x4, this will give me a chance to really see how it performs.

The drive to Mexico will be interstate of course. Once in Mexico, we will be in small villages where the road or trail conditions will be poor at best. Hopefully, I will return with nothing but good things to say about the truck's performance. I will have pictures of the truck in action when I return.

Keep us in your prayers.

I suggest you put some Green goo in your tires and take along a good air compressor for flats will be a major concern for you once you get into mexico. Dont have any guns, ammo or large knives in your car unless you want to go to jail. Most of all keep your doors locked at all times and keep an eye out for car jackers. Just because you are there on a good cause doesnt mean they wont rob and or hurt you. Have fun.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will be with a very large group of 10 vehicles, mostly vans. Hopefully things will be safe.

I have one can of fix a flat but now that I have read your email, I will get some of the green goo. I have spare fuses as well.

Thanks.

easier to prevent a flat than it is to fix it. Ive got that stuff in my jeep and I have pulled nails out and its still going good 5,000 miles later.

"and mexican insurance too"

definately get the insurance. There are people there who want rob rich gringos, but if you're their obviously on a mission you won't have any problems. Even if they have differing religious views they generally won't mess w/ a man of god. Happy trails. Also, ditto on the goo.

Understand "get insurance"..........Your auto insurance is not valid in Mex. You must pay and obtain Mex auto insurance from a "dealer" in Mex.

If you get into a wreck it is settled on the spot. The mex insurance guy comes out and settles with cash. If you do not have their insurance you go to jail.

You can get the insurance online. I lived in Mexico for 1 1/2 years. Two months with my new Ford F-150. No Problems and I still go back to visit friends.

Just returned form the mission trip to Mexico. We had a very productive and rewarding trip. My F150 SuperCrew 4x4 performed perfectly over the 2500 miles.

As it turned out, I had to pull a trailer the entire way. I hardly knew it was behind me. The pull and tracking was great.

While in Mexico, we traveled over very poor roads (without the trailer at that point) and the truck handled them well. Everyone loved the truck and marveled at its beauty and performance. I could not have been more pleased with the vehicle.

Now I am going for an oil change and check the air filter carefully as it was very dirty there. I am also going to check the fuel filter.
