Anyone ever get pulled over for not having a third break light with the top off? I want to take my top off this summer and I'm banking on the average cop not knowing the difference unless they own a Bronco. I suppose I'll have to get some lap belts for the rear too.
Its not a problem if you have a 1991 or earlier Bronco. They changed the laws in 92 to require the third stop light, so technically it is illegal to do it on a 92-96 Bronco. It would take an incredibly **** cop to get you a ticket for that. I think it's worth the risk though. If you are real scared though, you could always do this:http://www.superford.org/registry/ve...=17255#content
whats the year has to be 87 and above?
its a law for car companies to put the third light on in 1987. you should be good
if you do get pulled over tell the cop its an 86 they werent rewuired then
Just wire a single LED (available from ratshack, shouldn't be more than $2) on the circuit with a reasonable resistor. "Sure it's there, it's the ultra-mini-compact version. They were only available on 3,000 Broncos in (your truck's year here)."
Edit: here's an LED calculator if you want to do this http://linear1.org/ckts/led.php Just plug in the information for the circuit and it will tell you what resistor you need.
