I have a 1999 F250 that had XLE4 when purchased new. This truck was just what I expected! It would pull my 6800lbs Camper at highway speeds up and down hills with out ever coming out of OD.
I had a CPS fail and the dealer upgraded my program in the PCM to XLE8. Now it will not pull my camper at 68mph and jumps into passing gear on the slightest grade. This is not the truck I purchased!
Please e-mail me if you have had a 1999 production date through July of 2001 production date superduty truck and it has been re-programmed or the PCM updated to a new code and you have noticed a loss of power. I am trying to see if a pattern is developing.
My many thanks to all
I hope your trucks never have this problem!
I've heard of many reflashes with the automatic and lower power afterwards. The reason as explained to me was to lower power output to save the transmission.
I also have had my 97 f250 powerstroke w/ E4OD PCM updated and two things are for sure. I am getting better fuel economy than ever and the tranny shifts really weird between 2nd and 3rd. It was back at the dealer for 5 weeks trying to figure out the problem. Replaced processor and tranny. Still having problem. I believe it is bad code. Anyone have an answer?
