I was talking to jody at DP tuenr about upgrading my computer, says he out, but he has new programming for the XlE computers. They now have the T/C lockup in 2 and 3rd. I was wondering how good the egt's are. I am having high egt's now and was wondering if worth spending the money for the new files.
I got mine last week, i just installed it like 20 minutes ago hah. I have to wait on the valve body though, hopefully tomorrow. I just hooked it up to listen to lope and then proceed to smoke the shop out.
My stock computer is VDH2, and im wondering if i have that programming?
XLE is early programing (early 99) In the past they couldn't program it as well as later ones but sounds like he has some improvments now. Pretty sure user Rons Power Stroke has xle with a dp chip.

yes i did and ill tell you what..jody did a great job on this tune.. with my mods i can cruise at 75 in my 80 econo and ride at 700 to 750 EGT's the only way i get over 1000 is run wide open and push the boost up to 27 to 28...it climbs fast but so doesnt the truck..ill get to 100mph in a hury and EGT's will be running about 1100 to 1200 ..cools right back off though..same with 120 only way EGT'S get up over 1000 is push it hard...the trans shifts so much better and at the right times...it holds each gear so much better..i couldnt be happier with my tunes...
I would like to know how your egt's are climbing a hill and pulling a trailer. Also is your engine real loud. When I first got my chip the engine was way noiser than it is now with my tunes, just wondering if the newer tunes were a little quieter. I can get my egt's up to 1000 climbing hills around the house at 45 fairly easy. During normal acceleration how high to your temps go? Sorry to ask so many questions just want to get an idea if worth spending the money to have the chip reflashed.
i run the 60 tow around town or on the big road most of the time..with the mountians around here and staying with in the speed limit..my egt's will run any where from 600 to 800 my 80 econo is about the same..like i said the only time i see over 1000 is when im realy pushing the truck hard...i haven't had the chance to tow any thing yet so i cant help you there..i live at the bottom of a big hill here.. its about 1/2 mile to the top...when the truck was stock i could climb the hill from a dead stop at the bottom and i could only get 55 mabey 57 mph be for i get to the top...now in my 80 econo from a dead stop ill hit the top at 96 mph and she wants to keep climbing but i run out of room...i pull about 25 - 28 lbs boost and the egt's will be just touching 1200 at the top..if i just drive up and over this same hill getting to 50 mph and staying there the EGT'S will get up to about 800....900 on a hot day..i also have a friend with a 02 100hp super chip that liked to blow my doors off cause he thinks with the smaller turbo i cant pass him..the second day with my tuner i was in 80 didnt think to go to 120. but he came up behind me and was going to blow my doors off ones again..guess what..i mashed the pedal the black smoke roled and he couldnt pass me..i pulled over lauphing my azz off..he is now saving for a dp tuner..from the guy's that ask this same question about the tuners on the 99.5 and up my egt's sound about the same as theres...thats about the best i can tell you ..yes the engine is a little louder..i like to think more agressive...i havent done the hpx yet and i just got my in tank /pre pump kit from itp yesterday...ill see if that makes a difernts..be hard to tell right now cause the weather has been prety cold here and that makes it run a lot quiter as well..im going to florida the 22nd and hoping to have the tank and hpx done befor i go...ill let you know how that turned out..i hope this helped you some..if not dont be afraid to ask more..thats what we are here for..

Thanks for the response. Your egt's sound like they are a good 150 degrees cooler than mine right now. I would like to know what you average mpg is. I say an increase of 1 mpg, like to know if you squeeze more out of it.
when I 1st got my tunes I did a lot of playing..sill kina do..I was swapping tunes all the time and getting 15 to 16 around town..17 be for my mods. last week I checked it in my 60 tow.. I travel 30 miles a day to work and back.we are running winter grade fuel. I let my truck idol 1100 rpm for about 15 minutes every morning and night.and I got 17 mpg..not bad huh? my travel is 20 miles of back roads..all up then down with lots of curves.my truck would always kick out of OD so id drive that part of the trip out of OD...now I can keep it in over drive for that part of the trip..my truck now has some wicked low end torque..she looses a little on the top though..( who wants to tow at 80 mph??) but I can cruise the stretch in OD running about 15 to 1600 rpm's and never down shift..I got 20 to 21 mpg on the big road be for..haven't traveled since the mods..I will be next week I can tell you then...Jody did a great job with this tune..I love it..never had a truck quite like this one..you wont go wrong by getting it..I'm the 2nd one to try this out..the other guy has the same set up as I do and he dino test 105 hp to the ground in 80 econo..

Hey 12A, Dave here. I just got home from a long trip (unfortunatly in the car) and my box from Jody came in and I got the 60tow, 80econ and Lope idle. The last time I talked to Jody about the lope idle, he said it was associated with the 120 race tune. I was hesitant about getting that one with only a Sonnax kit and super cooler on the tranny but I did. He said that if I baby it and not try to dog it all the time, it should be fine...but who can baby a 120HP tune? I will get the box (I sent the whole computer) re installed friday and post the results...I may even pass out a number to call to hear the results live on the phone!! What were the different cables you were talking about??...Talk to ya later.....
Man I am way excited to get mine put in now. I have the XLE pcm coding as well, will be able to report more next week if I can get it put in this weekend.
