01 Explorer Rattle When Starting
I recently bought an 01 Explorer XLD AWD. I had heard that there was a Ford program concerning timing chain lubrication, as some had a distinctive rattle for a few seconds after starting. Adn mine does this. My dealer claims to know nothing about this. I have since found out that it may indeed be the hydraulic tensioned. Does anyone know if this is a real problem, or just a noise I have to live with.

Yes, there is a TSB, Technical Service Bulletin M0012 I believe that they will replace the tensioner if under 6 years or 72,000 miles.
