1998 Expy Wiper Wash Button

My windshield wash button on the end of the stalk (direction light lever) is going bad on my 98 expy. The washer solvent reservior is full. If I push it, no washer spray. If you push on it several times in different locations on the button I can get fluid from the nozzles, but I can sense a deteriation in it performance (number of pushes required to fire spray). Anyone had a similar problem or anyone have a suggestion to fix? Thanks.

Same problem

I have the same problem with my 98 expedition. I make it work by signaling right and pressing the button.

The contacts are starting to wear out in the switch. All Fords use the same turn signal/wiper/wash lever I believe. I had to replace one on a '91 T-Bird & a '93 Aerostar with the same problem. I'm not sure how much they cost though. It is fairly easy to do. Take off the plastic steering column cover to get at it.

Ok, I have done my research on this. The weaher is getting crappy and dont want to be without my washer fluid this winter. The dealer wanted $90 for the turn signal stalk. Looked on the web and found it at rockauto.com for $47 + shipping (motorcraft). Its on its way and the swap should be fairly easy.

Here's the link:

https://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/mak%2...+V8+FI+%286%29

Its under the "Electrical Switch-Relay" folder.

Good luck.
