Russ,
Thank you for being courteous and keeping it very civil. In the future I will work harder at finding civil (polite) ways to use words like "crap" and "hell" used in your statements.
Thanks Guys! Appreciate the info. I'm going to the shop tomorrow and see if the engine is done yet....Everytime I call I hear "give me a few more days". That's been the same old tune for a month....Maybe i'm anxious, but this is approaching insanity. Told him I wanted it back in time for my mini "vacation" which is Thursday-Monday. Two months plus seems like ample time.
STP has been a very controversial product as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I can remember my dad and his buddies arguing...er...discussing the pros and cons of STP then.
Just to make a point, every lubricant available is liked or disliked in some way. If you can name it, someone has something good and someone has something bad to say about it. There are some that are more well known or notorious than others.
Don't just believe me or any one person here about lubricant performance. I wish I had taken pictures of some of the things I have seen happen to freshly rebuilt engines during the break in. Scuffed pistons and cylinder walls caused by plain motor oil used during assembly is on my list (use something that will stay on the cylinder walls, pistons and rings until start up day). I have had 100% success in 22 years of building engines doing it my way.
