hello does anyone have the "shorty" style headers on there vehicle, and do they help with the breathing over stock manifolds. if they do, it it worth it?
I have shorties on my bronco, but they arent standard shorties. They are a shorty style, but utilize equal length primary tubes. Thats a far superior design to standard shorties. I would definately say they are worth it. Are you in the market, or just wondering? I can give you some pointers on header brands if you like. I personally run Bassani's. If you check out the link in my sig, there are some sound clips of my truck (two different catbacks).
hello, if you could include some links, and some pointers from your experience shopping around would be great. i would really appreciate it. im interested for better flow/power....on the flip side, the other day i heard a duelies exhaust on a truck using those cone mufflers you put on the end of the pipes that use discs.... those were LOUD... i mean ear bleeding LOUD....i don't see how those things could even remotely be legal. (i would feel really sorry to be this persons neighbor)
I think those mufflers you saw were Supertrapps. Many exhaust systems arent legal. I dont know where you live, but when I was down in South Carolina visiting some relatives, I was amazed at some of the automotive stuff I saw. Radically lifted, stupid loud, etc.. None of that would fly here in MA. Anyways, back to the topic. Someone posted a while back on a similar topic. You can check out my response here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hlight=shorty+ I hope that answers a few questions. Now brands, the best are Bassani, JBA, and many love Gibson. For the most part, price does indicate quality with these components. You will kick yourself if you skimp now, and then problems arise, and you end up spending more money to fix it.
So what's the deal then? Which shorties bolt up to a 1994 f150 4x4 w/302? I know some do but I've got a standard is there something I should be worried about when bidding on ebay?
For the most part, all parts on ebay are used or crap. If you want a good set, you need to go through a normal distributor like Motorhaven, Truck Performance, Proficient Performance, etc. With the standard, I do not know. I am sure if you called either a header manufacturer, or a distributor, they could answer that for you.
Moose , Ford motorsport shorties will bolt right up to your 302. They are made out of stainless steel and they fit on my 5.0 powered 95 f150 perfectly. The price wasn't that bad either for stainlees headers.
