i have a 4 channel clarion amp bridged to 2 channel that go to 2 dvc4ohm subs wired in parallel, I know this isn't right but with this amp i have the gain maxd and also bass boost. i recived a clarion 1000 w 2 channel amp today, i cdecided to roughly wire it in to see if it worked. since this amp has only one input r&l i took the rear channel rca's off my other amp for the incoming signals. i started the truck and started to turn up the gain and once agin i was at full maxc and the subs didn't distort, i thought with more than twice the power i would hardly go past half way on gain. My question is could it be the pre-outs on my deck?? without the sub pre-out was i only actually running one sub?? hard to see as they share a box. or is it the voltage on the pre-outs?? my amp says it has a .5-2.5v range??? most decks have 4 volt pre-outs right?? can anyone explain?? the deck is a clarion db325, but i have a clarion dzx835 on order
The DB325 preout voltage 1.8V, the DXZ835 will have a 4v pre-out. My guess is the the deck itself probably has a problem(s), does the 325 have any type of setup menu to adjust the preout level?
The higher output of the deck, generally the less you would have to gain. For example. My eclipse puts out 8v and any amp that only took 2.5 in would be properly gained at less than 1/4.
