Ok, I filled up my 94 4x4 4.0l supercab ranger up with r134a the other day, today i looked under the hood, and there was puddles of green sitting on the compressor pully, and it had been flung all aorund the engine compartment, my question is, is it possible to take these compressors apart and replace o rings, or do i have to buy a new compressor? Cause i'd say it all leaks out in a matter of a week. So is there any way of fixing this, or do i need a new compressor? i'm pretty sure its coming from the compressor. i just dont know where.
Freon has no color unless dye has been added. Did someone put dye in the unit? Anyway, it sounds like the compressor seal is leaking and needs replacing.
You'll have to replace the seal, probably the drier/accumulator, and replace any o-rings that are leaking also. Add the proper amount and type of A/C oil, pull a vacuum and recharge.
well, theres a green sticker on the truck that says somthing about leak tracer dye, so i'm assuming thats it, at least i hope so! Ok, so all i have to do is take off the belt, take off the compressor, take that apart, replace to 0 rings (do i need to buy ones made for a/c, or will ones found in a hardware store work?), replace the seal (is this between the pully and the compressor?(will i need to take off the pully/clutch thing to get to it?) thanks for the reply, i appreciate it!

Hardware store o-rings etc won't work. Check with http://www.ackits.com for your parts.
