I have a '98 4WD EB Expy and yesterday afternoon while near my living room window, I heard a clunk and the car alarm went off. It had not been hit nor were there any loud noises to set it off. This morning I noticed it looked very low in the front by the driver's side. I compared the wheelwell clearance to the passenger side and it's way off - practically "low-rider" style. I looked at all of the control arms and rods and they seem OK. There aren't any coil springs on 4WD models, so could it be the shock absorber?
You hit the nail on the head! I went back and carefully looked at everything underneath and noticed a cracked bar towards the rear. Should I replace both of these bars? Do I have to go to the dealer to buy these? If not, where else can I purchase them? What am I looking at as far as $ per bar? Again, thanks for your help!
To the best of my knowledge you'll probably end up being towed to whoever replaces it. The dealer would definately be able to do it but I would price him as well as a reputable front end-tire shop near you. The trucks have been around long enough that there is probably a good possibility of aftermarket replacements.
Maybe someone else who's been down this "bumpy" road can guide you better.
