Hey guys heres a scenario that I would like to propose to you. Would if ford decided to say the heck with this hemi business and decided to put in a new more powerful engine in there new 150. This new engine would crank out 400 HP and have loads of torque and definiteley smoke any hemi. This would be a engine option in addition to the 5.4 or 4.6. This isnt going to happen I dont think anyway. What do you guys think. Would you like this if ford would do this. Or would it be a bad idea. Hey let me know what you think. Thanks
It is probably a bad idea right now. Everyone is having a cow about gas prices. A motor that drinks gas like I drink beer wouldn't go over good. Even a real efficient motor wouldn't get more than 14 mpg. To get 400 hp you're gonna need some large cylinders with a long stroke. That's gonna take some gas.
Short of that, I think a large 400hp motor would be totally cool. It would be great if they made one with multiple mount locations so I can fit it into my truck. Forget the new trucks.
Horsepower and speed alone don't sell all that many trucks. Otherwise, Dodge or Nissan would outsell Ford in the 1/2 ton market. Both are faster than the Ford. Same thing with the Ranger, the S10 and Colorado both have more horsepower. Who cares!! I really don't think the primary concern of most people purchasing a new vehicle is "Can I smoke a Dodge with this truck?" Besides, if you want fast, buy a car, like a Corvette, Mustang GT, Subaru WRX, Lancer Evo, etc. Light weight has its advantages. Remember, if Dodge had to depend only on sales of the SRT10, or Ford on the Lightning, both companies would be out of business.

Its called the 2005 lightening. Still the 5.4 but suppose to be very bad, alot more hp than the other lightenings in the past. And even with gas prices like they are, ppl will still buy them. Gas prices have went up, but so has the sale of SUV's. If ppl were that worried about gas prices, then truck sales would bottom out and more and more ppl would start looking at the VW bug with the 1.8L diesel, pulling 50 mpg.
Well yea, the Hemi with the same set up as another engine (2 valve) will be more efficient and make more power. Oh well, I would still rather have my six in my ford than a Hemi in a dodge. :P
I guess gas prices haven't hit people that hard, the f-150 is the best selling vehicle so far this year.
