Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place, so my apologies in advance if I have.
I'm trying to acertain which manual transmissions in the bigger trucks, like the F600,F650,F700,F800 that have 5 or more gears, that could be mated to the BBF bell pattern, such as the 429 or 460.
I've found that some of the trucks have clark or spider transmissions, but I'm totally suffering and not finding part numbers so I can get some answers locally from various used parts places. So far, all of the places I talked to can only help me if I give them a part number. They refuse to any kind of cross reference/swap kinda lookups.
Thank you in advance for a really strange request.
This will be "forced" into a F350 crewcab thats about to get a twin-turbo 500cid stroker, which will grossly exceed the torque capacity of even a ZF S5-47, so I was given several recommendations to look for something more... um... massive
I'm hoping to find some kind of "stout" manual that has the BBF pattern, won't die on the test run, and has an over drive gear of some kind since I won't be sitting at WOT all the time.
The huge transmissions found in those trucks will be horribly wrong for your application, they will all be geard down for use behind huge diesel engines. The ZF S5-47 will hold up for a while behind it, also look in to using a NV5500 and for non OD NP435, T18,T19
According to my '93-'94 Ford truck service manual, 7.0L (429ci) gas and LPG engines were available on the F-600 and mated to an Allison 4-speed automatic or Eaton FS-3005 or FS-4005 5-speed manual transmission and Rockwell rear axle. Ratios and other details are not given. This may at least give you a start.
